Teaching AI to Write Better OpenRewrite Recipes
Prerequisite: Recipe Authoring Fundamentals or experience authoring recipes.
Thursday, Feb 19
12:00 - 1:00pm ET

The Challenge
AI can generate OpenRewrite recipe code, but it doesn’t automatically know best practices. Without the right context, structure, and checks, AI output can be incomplete, incorrect, or just not what you were looking for. Effectively using AI for recipe authoring starts with understanding how to guide it and how to evaluate results.
Why Attend
This training gives you a practical framework for using AI as a co-author — not a shortcut. You’ll learn how to give AI the information it needs to produce solid recipe scaffolds, how to refine output with human judgment, and how to ensure everything you run is predictable, readable, and adequately supported by tests.
What You'll Learn
- Where AI tools can assist with recipe creation
- How to structure prompts to select the right types of recipes (e.g. declarative vs. imperative)
- When to consider adding missing details such as preconditions and configuration
- Why the OpenRewrite before/after testing framework is a perfect fit for validatingAI-generated recipes
- Techniques for reviewing, correcting, and improving AI-generated recipes
